Stefanie focuses on vetting opportunities using XL TechGroup's unique model of evaluating unmet business needs, develops plans to create companies to exploit these needs and then collaborates with subsidiaries in developing their strategic plan to reach their aggressive goals.
Prior to joining XL TechGroup in April 2007, Stefanie was an Executive-in-Residence for Innovation Works, a seed-stage investor in Pittsburgh. In that role, approximately 10 companies per year were launched. She has held board-level positions in numerous life science and robotics companies and worked with each to reach successful exits. Earlier management positions include at Respironics Inc. in Pennsylvania, where she focused on emerging technologies, strategic planning and developing new-to-world concepts. Stefanie championed new markets focusing on neurology, cardiac & respiratory care, earning a management award for creating breakthrough products. Other management positions include the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center where she worked as a consultant with Kodak, GE, Siemens and Fuji. Throughout her career, Stefanie has developed systematic methods for business plan development, rapid innovation, IP analyses and multi-site clinical trial development.
Stefanie has a B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh, an M.Sc. in Bioengineering also from the University of Pittsburgh, an MBA from the University of Michigan, and is a graduate of the Venture Capital Institute. She currently has in excess of 20 patents world-wide.
