Jim joined XL TechGroup in 2006 as a Serial Executive, and is currently building and managing the operations team which PetroAlgae needs in order to support its anticipated rapid worldwide growth. Jim manages PetroAlgae's strategy modeling and quantitative analysis, recruiting and training, research facility operations, production scale-up planning, quality management, and customer technical support groups.
Before joining XL TechGroup, Jim was the founding CEO, CFO, or CTO of over a dozen different new venture companies, most recently in software (ValueLogix), mobile communications (ThisInstant), and medical devices (VirtualScopics, RTek Medical Systems). During the 1980s and early 1990s, Jim worked extensively as a strategy and innovation management consultant with Marakon Associates and with the Innovation Strategy Group, leading projects which created over US$30 billion of measured cash-flow value for large and small companies in mobile communications, computer hardware and software, digital imaging, pharmaceuticals, beverages, business services, financial services, consumer electronics, olefin chemicals, petroleum, and plastics. Jim played a central role in developing Marakon's highly regarded professional recruiting and training processes, and in developing its growth strategy practice.
Jim's formal education includes a BA with Honors in Economics from Yale and an MBA with Distinction from the Harvard Business School.
