Jim is a founder of XL TechGroup, has been its CTO since inception, and is involved in all aspects of the discovery, development, evaluation, and application of technology in the XL TechGroup company creation process. He is also the manager of the First Principles group at XL TechGroup, whose main role is to develop disruptive, first-principle based evaluations and applications of technologies.
Jim previously served as Chief Scientist at XL Vision, the predecessor to XL TechGroup, and at Lenzar Electro Optics. Before that, he was with W.J. Schaffer in the role of Chief Scientist. In these positions, he worked to create technical solutions to business problems while keeping abreast of innovations in technology.
After completing his duties as a First Lieutenant in the US Army, Jim began his career with the Perkin Elmer Corporation. Subsequently he joined the Central Intelligence Agency and became one of only two senior scientists in that agency. In this position, he developed working relationships with a broad segment of the US contractor base involved in the development of large and extremely complex technical systems. This position included participation in multi-national programs and liaison with the highest levels of the US government.
Jim received his undergraduate training in physics from Auburn University, Alabama and completed a Masters degree in Physics from New York University.
