Fred manages the pipeline of new opportunities at XL TechGroup. His team evaluates the opportunities, constructs various business strategies for these potential new companies, and tests those strategies against the market, resulting in the creation of one-to-two new companies per year. In addition to the XL TechGroup pipeline, these opportunities also provide a significant portion of the pipeline for GenXL.
Fred has been a member of the XL TechGroup team since January 2004. Prior to his current role, Fred served as CEO for a medical imaging systems provider involved in the manufacture and distribution of image enhancement and automated cancer detection systems for film based radiology. He was also Vice President of Business Development for a developer of high-performance CMOS imaging sensors targeted at the camcorder and digital still camera markets. In 1993, Fred became one of the original members of the XL Vision team, which invented, developed, and scaled a number of differentiated technology companies in the imaging, IT, and biometrics spaces. Before moving into business development, he spent twenty years as an engineering and technology executive in the software, computer, and integrated circuit industries, and was a founding member of three startup ventures.
Fred holds an MBA from the University of New Hampshire and a B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Hartford.
